Your family safety is just a click away

I opened the newspaper early morning and the headlines were “A software professional raped by a cab driver and his companion”. We encountered with the news of such incidents almost daily. Somewhere they made headlines and sometime you would get them to read on page 3/4 .Such news make us think, “Do we really lost the humanity somewhere”? ,”Or it is price we girls have to pay for making us self-independent”? “Whether those culprits didn’t think once that this could happen to their wife, sister or daughter too”. I was not interested in reading anymore news and hence handed over the newspaper to my husband.

Although I was trying hard to keep myself busy in household activities but somewhere in my mind some questions were striking me very hard like “What is the mistake of a woman in all this”?”Why she has to gone through with all this”? Women are unsafe not only when they are out from their home, they are vulnerable to such incidents while in home also. All these make me remind of one incident that happened in our neighborhood last year, when we stayed in Panchkula,Haryana.

It was one fine morning , I heard the bell and opened the door. It was my maid, who used to give me a sweet smile as soon as she entered, but that day she looked a bit furious and sad and went straight to the kitchen. I asked her “What is the matter,Shanti”?  She looked at me and said ,”Didi, aapko nahi pata kya hua hai house no 113 main”? As we(me and my husband) both were working ,we were very much unaware of the happenings in our society. I asked her “Nahi, mujhe nahi pata, kya hua”? She narrated me the whole story and I was in a shock on hearing that.

What she told me is “She used to work in house no 113. 2 years back, they got some boy to work for them and he used to stay there only. In their family they have a husband, wife, 2 daughters (somewhere of age 3 & 10 ) and their grandmother (husband’s mother). Since it’s been 2 years the whole family trust the boy blindly. Last evening, the husband and wife along with his younger daughter went for an evening walk after having dinner. Since, the elder girl has some school test she stayed at home to study. When the 3 of them came from the walk ,they were shocked to see the horrifying scene. The elder girl is tied on the chair with the rope and had several injuries on her hand and face .In the very next room ,her grandmother was lying dead ,and she had been stabbed with the knife several times in her stomach. All the money and jewellery were stolen and there is no sign of the boy’s presence at home. They informed the police and the search for the boy is going on”.

Later after 3 days I came to know that the boy has been recovered from her native place. Shanti told me that the old lady used to have a cell phone, which was also found lying near her bed.

Such incidents are very common these days ,and based on several surveys it is an established fact that “The number of such incidents with Old people have been increasing significantly”.

The life of the lady might be saved if she was able to call or had some features in her cell phone through which she could easily send the message to her son. , I Wish She had SMART SURAKSHA with her so that she could inform her son and her life could be saved.

The Smart Suraksha App is an Android Application that aims at making the women feel safe. This App, at the press of a single button, sends your message of help to five pre-chosen contacts from your contact list. An additional feature of this app is that along with your message for help, it also sends across your location even if the GPS on your cellphone is switched off. Thus, the women can be reassured that there is help available at all times.

Download the Smart Suraksha apps to your parent’s mobile phone, for their safety.

I am participating in the Seeking Smart Suraksha contest at BlogAdda.com in association with Smart Suraksha App.
Be safe and alert J
